Root canal treatment is the removal of the pulp and nerve of a decayed or infected tooth and the cleaning and filling of the empty space. The root canal is the name given to the cavity in the center of each tooth. Inside the root canal is the pulp, which is filled with blood vessels and nerves that play an important role in the nutrition of the tooth.<\/p>\n

Is root canal treatment a painful procedure?<\/p>\n

Since root canal treatment is performed under local anesthesia, it is not a painful procedure.<\/p>\n

In the presence of deep caries that has progressed to the pulp of the tooth

Root canal treatment is performed in one or two sessions depending on the existing damage to the tooth. In the presence of very severe infection, it may take up to three sessions.<\/p>\n
