X-rays are taken to see the condition of the root canals and the surrounding bone tissue. Local anesthesia is applied to the area where the tooth is located. After numbness is achieved, a hole is drilled in the tooth to reach the pulp. After the area around the tooth is isolated so that saliva cannot reach it to keep it dry, the pulp, nerve tissue and infection debris along with bacteria are removed from the tooth. In order for the cleaning process to be carried out correctly, the root canals are expanded with small instruments of the appropriate size for the root canal, similar to a rasp. During this procedure, the patient does not feel pain as the nerves of the tooth are removed. After the tooth is completely expanded and cleaned, it should be sealed. If there is a suspicion of infection in the tooth, a special medication can be placed in the tooth, covered with a temporary filling and waited for a week. Filling the cavity after the tooth is completely cleaned is important to prevent new infections and to give the tooth durability. A biologically compatible material called guta percha, which looks like thin rods, is used to fill the root canal. Before filling, the root canal is dried, the length of the canals is measured with special instruments and filled completely with guta percha of this length. The excess is cut off with the help of heat. Additional mixtures are used to fill the gaps between the guta perchas to prevent leakage. After filling the root canal, the hole is closed and the appropriate restoration is applied depending on the damage to the tooth.

Do not eat or drink for the first few hours after the treatment is completed. Avoid hot and cold foods as there may be sensitivity in the first few days after the treatment. If the treatment is not completed in one session, the tooth should not be used until the next session

After a properly performed root canal treatment, the discoloration of the teeth either does not occur at all or is so minimal that it does not pose a problem. However, teeth with incorrect root canal treatment may change color. Teeth with discoloration due to root canal treatment can be aesthetically restored to the expected state with single tooth whitening

When whitening a single tooth, the filling of the discolored tooth is first opened and the whitening agent is placed inside the tooth and closed with a temporary filling. After this procedure, the patient is given an appointment for 3-5 days later and the effect of whitening on the tooth is observed. If it is not sufficient, the active ingredient is removed and a new one is placed and continued in this way until it reaches sufficient whiteness.
