Fluoride Application

Fluoride is an element that strengthens the structure of the teeth and prevents decay. When teeth first come through, the enamel is not fully mature and is less resistant to decay. Fluoride protects the enamel against acid attacks. Fluoride taken systemically also helps to strengthen bone. Applying fluoride directly to the teeth is an effective way of preventing decay. Fluoride should be applied to children regularly every 6 months.
