Reinforcement orthodontic treatment is a treatment to prevent the teeth from returning to their old position when the orthodontic treatment is finished and the braces are removed. No force is applied to the teeth, it only aims to maintain their current position. Reinforcement appliances are used during treatment and the duration of their use is determined by the orthodontist. Reinforcement treatment generally continues for 12-24 months, in some cases it may need to be applied for life.
