Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket under anesthesia. Tooth extraction should be the last alternative for teeth that cannot be treated.

Dangling teeth due to gum disease. Teeth with excessive material loss. Broken teeth due to trauma. Teeth with cysts and tumors.

Before the extraction, local anesthesia is applied to the area to be extracted and numbness is expected. After the numbness is achieved, the gum is separated from the tooth with the help of an elevator and the tooth is removed by loosening the bonds of the tooth with the jawbone by moving it back and forth with a tool called a davye. After tooth extraction, gauze is placed there to stop bleeding at the extraction site.

The patient must inform his/her doctor if he/she has any disease, medication or allergy. If there is a medication prescribed by the doctor, it should be used regularly. Blood thinners such as aspirin should not be used.

The gauze placed on the extraction site should not be removed for the first half hour. In case of pain after the extraction, painkillers can be used upon the doctor's recommendation. After the extraction, very hot or very cold food and drinks should not be consumed. Do not spit or rinse your mouth for 24 hours after the extraction. No food should be eaten for about 24 hours after the extraction. Smoking and alcohol should not be consumed for 24 hours after the extraction.
